Icelandic handcrafts have made enormous progress during the last few years. To name just a few exciting possibilities there are e.g shoes and bags made of fish skin and ornaments made of bones, feathers, hides and shells. Clothes made of wool are now high fashion and many visitors come especially to Iceland to buy designer clothes.
There is a trend now where old and new traditions blend together. Typical of that are children toys that in former times were just bones of sheep or other animals but now they have been reproduced in more up-to-date material.
Ceramic is always popular and there are some very interesting things available there. A lot of Icelandic potters like to make ceramics in natural colors – some even add crushed lava to the ceramics.
