The whole of West Fjords is one big secret hot spot!
This is one area that often gets left out when travelers, both foreign and Icelandic travel the Ring Road. This is a great pity since nowhere else in Iceland is nature as spectacular and glorious. Soaring mountainsides, deep valleys and numerous possibilities for outdoors activities.

The isolation of the West Fjords has been greatly reduced in recent years due to vastly improved transportation. However the West Fjords culture has a special unique flavor and colorful inhabitants. Not to mention the uses of sea and land such as eider down, driftwood, bird eggs, puffins, shark and dried fish.
If you want to experience a unique hiking experience you should go to Hornstrandir where people return again and again. Visit the picturesque waterfall of Dynjandi (100 m) or the spectacular seacliffs of Látrabjarg which is one of the biggest bird shelters in Iceland.
